A practical weekly content rhythm for a small business

A repeatable week across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and WhatsApp that one person can maintain — built around what you already do, not a content factory.

Most small business social accounts do not fail because the content was bad. They fail because it was irregular: eleven posts in the week a new product launched, then nothing for a month. Consistency beats quality at this scale, and the only way to be consistent while running an actual business is to have a rhythm you can repeat without deciding anything new each morning.

Here is a week that works for a small team, across the four channels most businesses actually need. Adjust the days; keep the shape.

The week

  • Monday — proof. Something you made, sold, delivered or fixed last week. A photo from the counter beats a designed graphic.
  • Wednesday — useful. Answer a question customers genuinely ask. How to choose between two products, how long delivery takes, how to care for the thing you sold them.
  • Friday — offer or invitation. The weekend special, the new arrival, the booking link. One clear action.
  • Sunday — personality. The team, the process, the early-morning setup, the mess before opening. This is the post that makes people feel they know you.

Four posts. That is the whole commitment. Anything above it is a bonus, and anything below it is a gap customers notice.

One idea, four channels

Do not write four different things. Take each idea and adapt it, because each channel wants the same content in a different shape.

  • Instagram — the visual version. A strong photo or a short reel, caption written for someone who is scrolling fast.
  • Facebook — the fuller version. More context, more detail, and the practical information: address, hours, price.
  • TikTok — the process version. Show the thing being made or done. Vertical, unpolished, no voiceover required.
  • WhatsApp — the direct version. Only for people who opted in, and only when there is genuine news. This channel is trust; overusing it costs more than it earns.

Batch the work into one sitting

The rhythm only survives if the work happens in one block rather than four interruptions. Pick ninety minutes a week. Spend the first thirty shooting: photograph the week’s products, take two short clips of the process, grab one photo of a person. Raw material is what you run out of, not ideas.

Spend the next thirty writing. Draft all four posts at once — tone stays consistent when you write them together, and AI drafting helps most here, turning a one-line note about the Friday offer into copy you edit rather than copy you start. Spend the last thirty scheduling everything into the calendar so the week publishes itself.

The goal is that by Monday morning, nothing about your social presence requires a decision from you.

Leave room for the replies

Posting is half the job and the easier half. Every post produces comments and DMs, and the Friday offer produces WhatsApp messages. If nobody is assigned to answer them, the content actively hurts you: a customer who asks a public question and gets ignored tells everyone scrolling past exactly what your service is like.

Block fifteen minutes a day for replies, at a time that suits you, and make sure everything arrives in one place so those fifteen minutes are not spent switching apps. For the questions that repeat — hours, prices, delivery areas — let an automated reply handle them instantly and keep your own time for the conversations that can turn into sales.

Review once a month, not daily

Look at the month, not the post. Which of the four slots produced enquiries? Which channel produced enquiries that actually converted? Then change one thing — swap a slot, move a day, drop a channel that has never produced a customer. One change a month compounds. Reacting to every individual post’s numbers does not.
